Poem for the
month:
Sing when joy fills thy mind!
Sing when sadness crowds thy heart!
Sing when thy life-stream runs its fullest!
Sing when death brings its darkest gloom!
Sing that song which will never change with time or tide of life!
Light and shadow, joy and pain,
Fame, infamy, loss and gain —
These are all set hours for our life's eternal song.
From the Katha-Upanishad:
The wise who know that One hidden in the cave of the heart as God are liberated from the fetters of joy and sorrow.
Mortals having realized through discrimination the subtle Self (immortal Spirit) rejoice, because they have obtained that which is the Source of all joy.
